Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Calculation of ml/hr.

Formula Total volume(ml) /Time(hr)

1) ml/hr.

           Calculation of total volume

                  Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * quantity.

             Here

                 Desired dose = 20 mg.

                 Dose in hand = 100 mg.

                     Quantity = 100 ml.

         As per above formula

                Total volume required = 20/100 * 100

                                                    = 0.20 * 100

                                                    = 20 ml.

                               Time = 1 hr.

         Rate (ml/hr) = 20 ml/hr.

2) ml/hr.

        Calculation of total volume

             Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

      Here

             Desired dose = 3mcg/min.

             Dose in hand = 8 mg

       Convert mg to mcg for calculation

                   1 mg = 1000 mcg.

           So

               Dose in hand = 8 * 1000

                                     = 8000 mcg.

                Quantity = 250 ml.

As per above formula

         Total volume required = 3 / 8000 * 250

                                             = 0.00038 * 250

                                             = 0.09 ml/min.

       Multiply ml/min to 60 to get ml/hr

                       ml/hr = 0.09 * 60

                                = 5.4 ml/hr.

3) ml/hr.

         Calculation of total volume

                Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

           Here

                 Desired dose = 2mg/min.

                 Dose in hand = 2000 mg(2g)

                     Quantity = 500 ml

      As per above formula

             Total volume required = 2/2000 * 500

                                                 = 0.001 * 500

                                                 = 0.5 ml/min.

         Multiply ml/min top 60 to get ml/hr

                     ml/hr = 0.5 * 60

                              = 30 ml/hr.

4) ml/hr.

         Total volume required.

            Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

             Desired dose = 2 mcg/min.

             Dose in hand = 1 mg.

       Convert mg to mcg for calculation

                     1 mg = 1000 mcg.

          So

             Dose in hand = 1000 mcg.

                  Quantity = 250 ml.

As per above formula

        Total volume of drug required = 2 / 1000 * 250

                                                        = 0.002 * 250

                                                        = 0.5 ml/min.

         Multiply ml/min to 60 to get ml/hr

ml/hr = 0.5 * 60

= 30 ml/hr.

5) ml/hr.

   Calculation of total volume

   Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

Here

   Desired dose = 25 mg/hr.

   Dose in hand = 125 mg.

Quantity = 100 ml.

   As per above formula

           Total volume of drug required = 25/125 * 100

                                                           = 0.2 * 100

                                                           = 20 ml

                                            Time = 1 hr.

                 ml/hr = 20 ml/hr.
