In June of 2013, the American Medical Association (AMA, 2013), formally declared obesity to be a disease. This decision was hailed by some as a long-overdue action that would improve medicine's ability to treat obesity but was denounced by others who believe it will increase the stigma experienced by obese people. Having read about the medicalization issues, identify a way in which this declaration will affect obese people.

Answer: Obesity can not be considered to be disease but it increases the risk of developing diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes etc. People who are obese experiences more problem as they have joint pain, risk of developing gout etc. They can't properly walk for longer distance and hence they also feels Breathlessness.

So, if obesity will be considered as a disease then people will show more concern regarding the obesity ans can focus on their weight management. .It is necessary for the people to look after themselves and stay healthy.
