1. Discuss why is public school physical education important? What objectives do physical education teachers pursue?

For my discussion post I have chosen question 1. In public or private school physical education is important subject to teach the students. A regular school, for elementary to high school, start their day going to school by 8 or earlier and end at 3, later if they have extra classes. During that 7-8 hours in school the students spend majority of their time sitting in a classroom, listening to lectures or solving problems, and only time they get physical activity (excluding reading, writing notes, and walking to class) are during snake time and lunch, which adds up to a hour or so. This is a very short amount of time they can exercise, but with a physical educational class they will go through activities that will allow them move and relieve stress from sitting all day. Through the physical activity they would learn how to express themselves, find passion, and learn basic physical activity skills, such as throwing, kicking, running, catching, and swinging, but this is not the only goal for the physical education. Their other goal is to teach the students responsibility for personal care and social responsibilities. In class they should be though how to lift weights or keep one's body in healthy condition to prevent any illness or diseases, and hopefully after the student's graduation, he or she will remember the lessons they got on keeping a healthy body, and keep exercising in future. Social responsibilities will be thought through game rules and equities, how players are not allowed to have hard contact in a soccer game and after a game you would complement the other player or team for doing their best. The students will take these information and connected to the real world. They will follow law or any rules set in place and practice social equities.

Public school physical education is important because students spend most of the time in the school while sitting at one place. But the time they get for playing or reading books is very less. The physical exercise helps children to grow and have healthy mind. Physical activity improves the brain function as well as releases the stress.

Physical education can increase concern among students to keep themselves healthy. Physical activities improves mental health, eye sight as well as it maintain healthy weight. Because at present we can see increased number of children whoa re suffering from obesity. So, physical education can enhance the health condition. This will also prevent them from disease as well as reduces the risk of disease Occurance.
