This is all because of poor dietary quality and physical inactivity

DIETARY GUIDELINES

UNDER 1990 NATIONAL NUTRITION MONITORING AND RELATED RESEARCH ACT every 5years once us department of health and human services (HHS) and of agriculture must jointly publish a report containing nutritional and dietary information and guidelines for general public

Dietary guidelines are applicable for all the individuals of 2 yrs and above age

ALL DIETARY GUIDELINES LISTED IN THE QUESTION ARE APPLICABLE

1.FOLLOW A HEALTHY EATING PATTERN ACCRISS THE LIFE SPAN

  • guidelines are started at age of 2 and are to be followed through out life for a healthy living
  • Choose healthy ldiet over unhealthy diet
  • Remember calories while selecting and eating food
  • Maintain ideal body weight by doing physical activity
  • Diet should be according to nutritional requirements... Nothing should be missed... If missed again it leads to deficiencies

2.focus on variety, nutrient dense food and amount

  • make a meal plan as household
  • Include variety of foods
  • Food must be enjoyed by all
  • Same item can be prepared in different varieties

3.LIMIT CALORIES FROM ADDED SUGARS AND SATURATED FATS AND REDUCE SODIUM INTAKE

  • sugars, fats, sodium and unhealthy lifestyles are the main causes for chronic diseases
  • Sugars, fats are very difficult to cut from body
  • Sodium absorbs water and and hence kidneys will not be able excrete water from body and hence results in high blood pressure
  • Hence they should have a serious check and should be taken in prescribed amounts only

4.shift to healthier food and beverage choices

  • This shift is all what is expected
  • Shift from unhealthy foods like pizza, burger, deep fried items,soft drinks, hard drinks etc to healthy foods like green leafy vegetables, fruits, fruit juices,water,low fat diet etc
  • This should be continued for the entire life
  • Along with the dietary changes physical exercises also should be inculcated in daily lives
  • eat more fruits and vegetables because it contains high fiber and nutrients and less calories
  • Stop taking preserved,packaged foods
  • Stop soft drinks and shift to healthier ones

5.support healthy eating pattern for all

  • Healthy life should be adopted by everybody in the family
  • Everybody has to play a supporting role
  • Family members, schools, work areas etc should favour healthy lifestyle

FOODS TO BE TAKEN

  • VEGETABLES FROM ALL SUB GROUPS
  • WHOLE FRUITS
  • GRAINS OUT OF WHICH 1/2 SHOULD BE WHOLE GRAINS
  • FAT FREE FOOD
  • LOW DIETARY FAT FOODS LIKE MILK, YOGURT, CHEESE ETC
  • PROTEIN FOOD LIKE LEAN MASS, EGGS, LEGUMES, NUT,SEEDS ETC
  • LESS THAN 10% OF CALORIES PER DAY FROM ADDED SUGARS SHOULD BE CONSUMED
  • LESSTHAN 10% OF CALORIES PER DAY FROM FATS SHOULD BE CONSUMED
  • LESS THAN 2300 MG OF SODIUM PER DAY SHOULD BE CONSUMED
  • DRINKS SHOULD BE REDUCED TO ONE SERVING PER DAY
  • AGE ALSO IS TO BE CONSIDERED... INDIVIDUALS ABOVE 14 YEARS OF AGE INLY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CONSUME BEVERAGES
