Ans. A characterstics,quantity, number etc can be termed to be a variable.A variable can be a data.types of variables are:

1)Numerical variable :Quantitavive measure, which categorised as

  • Continous variable- it indicate number or observation which are to be in between certain real numbers.Eg:height,age,temprature..which are actually countable
  • Discrete variables-observations which can be in between a distinct count.That is it should be whole numbers.Eg.car register numbers,no.of adults in a family, no.of vechicles in a family

2)Categorical variable: Qualitative measure,classified as

  • Ordinal variable:which can be logically ordered or ranked belongs to this category.This are actually comparisaon between other one.Eg.Educational gradings,Performance ranking in a test,cloth size etc.
  • Nominal variable: This cannot be logically ordered.Eg.Gender,Brand etc..
