Answer: Infants born with abstinence syndrome requires proper treatment as well as care. Exposure to some of the treatment may lead to diarrhea or pain in infants. The nurse should indulge the care such as:

  • The nurse intervene regarding the use of medication that is introduction of methadone treatment.
  • Nurse should provide education regarding the drug treatment to the parents.
  • Providing the exact dose for the medication as well as indulging the caregiver for special concern during the medication administration.
  • Once the patient or the infant is dischrged, home care plan is required.
  • The parents should be aware for the regular monitoring as well as taking appointments from the physician.
  • Transitional care should be provided to the infants.
