Directions: Please read the following case study and answer the corresponding questions. Please submit your answers in a word document.

Lauren is a 30-year older mother of two who has put on 50 lbs. of weight in the past two years. Over the two-year span, Lauren has adopted a very sedentary lifestyle with little to no physical activity, besides occasionally playing with her kids. She eats fast food on a regular basis and finds herself eating sweets late at night.

Before becoming a mother, Lauren enjoyed running outside for her daily exercise routine. She participated in 5K races with some of her close friends and completed her first half marathon.

Lauren recognizes her lack motivation to exercise and identifies that she has a problem with her daily dietary intake. With two kids and 50 lbs. overweight, Lauren lacks the time, energy and commitment to make the change.

It has always been Lauren’s goal to get back into running and participate in a full marathon. With two kids and living in the state of Oregon, the cold temperatures, recent weight gain and time has hindered her ability to get back into old routines of running.

1. Understanding the Stages of Behavior Change (Transtheoretical Model), what stage is Lauren in and WHY?

2. What are some of Laurens barriers to adopting a healthy lifestyle?

3. Using the SMART goals discussed in Chapter 1, set a specific goal for Lauren to train and complete her first marathon.

4. Put a 2-week workout program together for Lauren. Use ALL the FITT Principals to design your program. Within the 2-weeks include 3 aerobic workouts and 2 resistance training workouts for EACH week.
Note: You want the workouts to be specific to her goals.

1.Transtheoretical model States that individual adopt healthy behavior after giving strategy to guide the individual.

Stages of behavior includes following :

  • Precontemplation: Individual has unaware about their behavior which causes problems and who is not ready for behavior change
  • Contemplation:Individual identify their behavior causes unhealthy and understand their unhealthy behavior
  • Preparation :Individual ready to take action to hathy behavior change
  • Action : Individual avoid their unhealthy behavior and adopt healthy behavior
  • Maintenance :Individual continue their action
  • Termination: Individual left their unhealthy habits

Here Lauran is in the stage of ready ie, she takes some action to accept healthy behavior. She recognize her lack of motivation to exercise and faulty dietary intake.Her goal is to get back running and participated marathon.

Barriers

  • 2. Over weight
  • Lack of time
  • Cold climate

3.Specific goal using SMART Criteria

  1. I will running every 5days for 30 second
  2. I will lose my weight 7% within 3month
  3. I will participate marathon within 3month

4. Sunday : Swim, cycling

Monday :Run (30minutes )

Tuesday :swim,cycling

Wednesday :Run (30 minutes )

Thursday :Day off

Fridays :swim, cycling

The next week increases the time 60minutes for running.
