Answer #1

Nutrition, chronic disease, and insomnia are interrelated to one another. Undernutrition and overnutrition affect physical and mental health conditions. Lack of nutrition intake is one of the risk factors for major chronic disease and disability. Increased stress leads to poor intake of food which ultimately results in sleep disorder. Insomnia further progressed to many mental health conditions. Overnutrition leads to obesity and becomes a major causal factor for many of the diseases. This affects individual self-esteem and a common cause for a mental health condition.

For e.g

  • insomnia leads to excessive eating and weight gain.
  • Lack of nutritional intake and dehydration leads to sleep disorders.
  • Night eating syndrome affects sleep pattern.
  • Cholesterol, hypertension, BP increases disability conditions.

Management of these conditions is complex where the patient has to be assessed and screened completely. The patient has to be treated as a whole. Medication, proper nutrition, therapies, counseling all to be given to improve the condition of a patient. Collaborative management by the involvement of health care personnel such as a physician, nurses, dietician, therapist, specialist, psychological counselor work together in managing of these conditions. The health care professional must correlate one condition with another in order to prioritize the needs and care of the patient.
