Health insurance fraud is an act of deceit where the insured person wants to avail maximum , unfair benefits from insurer by providing wrong information like filing for clain for services which were never availed, increasing the overall cost of hospitalisation etc. It is increasing a lot nowadays. It poses serious losses to insurance service providers and impact badly to genuine customers.

this fraud is contributing to increased health care services cost as most of the time doctors order unnecessary treatments which results in non availability of those services to those who actually need them. Such type of fraud causes burden on government and private insurers which they will recover from somewhere. Government health insurer compensate these losses from hospital and health care budgets making services unavailable or reducing the quality of care.

wheras private health insurers fraud losses are levied by increasing health insurance premiums thus burdening customers thus raising the cost of their health services.
