1.) Order: Nitroglycerine 50 mg in 250 mL normal saline, infuse at 10 mcg/minute. Calculate the rate in mL/h. a) Show and explain how to set up your calculation using dimensional analysis to find the rate in mL/h.

2.)An IV is infusing at 50 mL/h.

The strength of the solution in the bag is 150 mg/mL.

What is the dosage rate in g/h?

a) Show and explain how to set up the calculation to find the dosage rate in g/h.

3.) Order: Wellcovorin (leucovorin calcium) 10mg/m squared 2 PO stat.

The label on the ampule reads 1.5 mg/mL.

Calculate how many milliliters you will prepare for a child whose BSA is 0.84m squaredm2.

a) Show and explain your steps in using dimensional analysis to find the number of mL of Wellcovorin to prepare.

Answer #1

1.Nitroglycerine 50 mg in 250 ml

1mg= 1000mcg

Means 50000 mcg in 250 ml

=200mcg/ml

infuse at 10 mcg/minute

10 mcg=0.05 ml

calculate rate in mL/h= 0.05 ml/min

=0.05 X60 ml/hr.

2. An IV is infusing at 50 mL/h.

What is the dosage rate in g/h?

The strength of the solution in the bag is 150 mg/mL.

1 ml=150 mg

then 50 ml= 150X50 mg= 7500 mg= 7.5 g (as 1 g=1000mg)

means 50 mL/h is = 7.5 g/hr.

3.Order: Wellcovorin (leucovorin calcium)= 10mg/m squared 2 PO stat.

The label on the ampule reads 1.5 mg/mL.

= 3 ml/hr
