Answer #1

Convert 110 lb into kg    ( ÷ by 2.2 )

110 lb ÷ 2.2 = 50 kg

1500 mL + 20 mL per each kg above 20kg

•            50 kg - 20 kg = 30 kg (There are 30 kg over 20 kg).

•            1500 mL + (20 mL/kg x 20 kg) = 1900 mL/day

•  The required volume is 1900 mL and the time is one day.

Volume (mL)/Time (hr )    = X (Flow Rate in mL/hr)

There are 24 hours in one day.

•   1 day x 24 = 24 hr

1900 mL/ 24 hr = 79.16 mL/hr

    19. Calculate the client’s fluid maintenance? His weight is 18 kg. The hourly fluid requirement: __________/ hour; The daily fluid requirement: ___________/day; (4ml/kg for the first 10kg) + (2ml/kg for the second 10 kg) + (1ml/kg for every kg above 20) = hourly rate (4ml x 10kg) + (2ml x 10kg) + (1ml x 5kg) = hourly rate 40ml + 20ml + 5ml = 65ml/hr Using the 4/2/1 method, this child's hourly maintenance fluid rate is 65mL/hr 20.
