In which way are contestable markets different from markets that are perfectly competitive? Firms have a positive economic profit in the long run. There is imperfect information-some firms have access to information while others do not. Firms charge a price that does not equal marginal cost. There are a few firms in the industry. This question makes no sense because there are no differences between contestable markets and markets that are perfectly competitive.

Which of the following statements regarding gene mutations is NOT true? Conditional mutations have different phenotypic effects under different conditions and can be used to study the function of essential genes. Silent mutations cannot have any phenotypic effect on an organism. Frameshift mutations often result in a truncated protein product, similar to a nonsense mutation. Dominant mutations have a phenotypic effect despite the presence of one functional wild type allele.

Answers: A common ancestor of two species on evolutionary trees can be found at the point where the two branches meet. Humans evolved from Neanderthals about 50,000 years ago. Mitochondrial DNA is not particularly useful when trying to determine the movement pattern of humans historically across the globe. Scientists can estimate when species diverged from a common ancestor by comparing their Karyotypes. We...
