Self-Efficacy Theory
What type of intervention could you develop in order to apply self-efficacy theory to a group or population that results in an improved self-efficacy? Describe.
Self efficacy theory:
self-efficacy theory include confidence,self-esteem or optimism..it
has difference with this constructs..it is a belief in our own
ability to meet the challenges and reach the task successfully..it
is a well known concept of psychology..it determine our chances for
success..
Mastery experience:
Direct mastery experience to increase the self-efficacy which
control the environment,build self-belief,failure will build the
efficacy belief..self-efficacy need experience to handle the
obstacles by efforts and perseverance..
Vicarious experience:
This self-efficacy comes from our observation of people around us
those who we think as a role model..It increase our beliefs and
capabilities to improve the ability and activity to succeed in that
area..
verbal persuasion:
people like their parents,teachers,managers or coaches who can
strengthen our beliefs to meet the success..when we have problem,
being persuaded posses the capabilities to improve our
abilities..
emotional stress:
Depression can control our ability and confidence..Stress and our
emotional power can interrupt the performance but positive emotions
can improve our skills..
For health promotion and disease prevention behavior changes is
important one..Self-efficacy makes people to think,feel and act..It
provides sense of control..low self efficacy bring
depression,anxiety and helpless..Term efficacy make people to adopt
with their health behavior it eliminate their unnecessary habits
and make changes..when people adopting valuable behavior like
physical exercise,stop smoking can improve disease prevention and
bring health promotion..Perceived self efficacy make belief any one
can change their health behavior by their action..capability to
cope with stress,depression and emotional behavior can meet the
situational demand..
Intervention:
-set a small goal instead of big goal to achieve the success..It
strengthen our goal and self-perception..big goal can stop you
reaching the track make emotional stress..
- Have a model of others to perform our task successful..it can
bring motivation and behavior change,it bring you to better
position to success.
- think about your past experience it help to reach some
situation..your negative past experience can bring your goal and
skills to improve in the present..Self-efficacy help deal with
challenging situations with resilience and optimism..
