The silk transgene will be present in all cells of the adult goat because all cells are derived from first cell of the embryo and thus the genetic constitution of all cells of adult goat will be almost equal. But the silk protein will be produced only in the mammary cells in the adult goat because the expression of transgene will only occur in the mammary gland cells.

The expression of a particular gene depends on many factors including the characteristics of cells. Once an embryo cell divides it forms multiple cells. These multiple cells differentiated into different cell lines of different organs. After differentiation, cells of different organ may have different characteristics which affect regulation of gene expression.
