Answer #1

Symbiotic relationship is the relation between two species in which at least one species benefits. For the other one it could be positive , negative and neutral. It is of three types, mutualism, commensalism and parasitism.

trichonympha, a flagellated protist and termites have mutualistic relationship, where both benefit from each other. trichonympha lives within the digestive system of termites and helps them to digest the cellulose and plant fibres because termites can't digest it by their own. Termites lack the enzymes to digest but trichonympha does contain the enzyme to digest. This has allowed the termites to survive for years while allowing the protist to develop itself within.
