What have you found to be the more effective way, for you, to learn the many roles and responsibilities of a PM – on the job experience, working with a mentor, or formal classroom study?

For working and learn the responsibilities of a PM, I found "on the job experience is the best method to brush up the skills and learning for a PM".

However, I can't deny the fact that a combination of all the three makes things even better like first gets a formal classroom study, working with a mentor than and finally on the job experience. Advantage of the classroom learning is to learn the key concepts and a new thing, the advantage of working with the mentor is to get hands on new techniques and get benefits from mentor experience and on the job training finally gives the hand on experience on everything we have learned so far.

So our actual test and the best way of learning is learning by doing which best fits in the position of "on the job experience"
