EMR and the EMRAM model:

  • ERM is abbreviation for Electronic Medical Record.
  • It is a condition when all the medical record of all the patients is recorded electronically and not manually.
  • ERM helps doctors to record the data quickly into the system without any chances of manual faults.
  • The adoption of the ERM into the system of the hospital can be tracked with the help of a model.
  • The model is the electronic medical record adoption model (EMRAM).
  • It is used to give scores and ratings to the hospitals on the basis of the level of adoption of ERM within their system.
  • The model is divided into eight stages in all starting from 0 (being the earliest stage) till 7 (being the highest stage).
  • The rank given to the hospitals depend totally upon how well the ERM have been implemented into the system and working of the hospitals.
  • The three major ancillaries used are laboratory, pharmacy and radiology.
  • If none of the three ancillaries are installed in the system, it will be stage 0.
  • If the hospital no longer uses the paper to maintain records of the patients and do it all with the help of ERM then it will be stage 7.

Functions & responsibilities of Human Resource:

  • It is the responsibility of the human resource department to involve in human resource planning and match the demand with the supply.
  • The human resource department is responsible to look into the affairs of the departments and the employees engaged in it.
  • The human resource department performs the major function of recruitment, where all other departments send requests for staff to be employed.
  • The selection of the best candidate for the vacant job position is also the responsibility of the human resource in the health care.
  • It is their responsibility to see that the affairs of the hospital are being performed ethically and as per the laws.
  • Setting the salary structure of the employees working in the hospital is another function that is to be performed by the human resource department.
  • The function of measuring the performance of the employees on regular basis and then deciding on the incentives on the basis of the performance is also performed by the human resource department.
