An EMR is a patient based system by which healthcare professional takes care of a patient and fulfill their responsibilities with no usage of paper medical documents or records, data gathered through the system is stored in structured form to have ease in computation, meeting legal needs, best practices and helps in real time decision making. The core features of an EMR are administration, clinical modules, management processes, and specialist modules. EMRAM or EMR Adoption Model is a tool which offers information on healthcare facility’s level of IT systems adoption. The main objective of EMRAM is to encourage and support health care facilities to have IT enabled facilities for the best in class health care services and service delivery including patient safety, exchange of healthcare related information along with the quality care and paperless offerings. EMRAM has eight levels of scoring to uphold the capabilities, such as, three key ancillaries (pharmacy, laboratory and radiology) and installation of the same, organizational abilities to offer clinical data repository, computerized physician order entry, structured templates, with paperless environment.

The human resources deal with labor law compliance, employee benefits and compensation, talent and development, recruitment and hiring, employee performance management and employee engagement. All of the mentioned areas are important for healthcare organizations to meet the significant needs of the healthcare professionals. Thus, it is needed for HR to make sure the healthcare operations are in compliant with labor laws, fulfill the training needs of the healthcare professionals, hiring the right candidate with the right set of skills for ‘right fit’ for the job role, act as in the in-charge of the record keeping of the healthcare business and operations (e.g. insurance coverage, inventory statistics, etc.). Employee benefits and payroll is also handled by the HR and its key responsibilities are to handle the employee engagement and performance improvement plans, apart from this screening and interviewing applicants , new employee induction and training, leadership management programs, employee retention, succession planning, helping in strategic planning of the healthcare organization.
