C. in unfolded extended form without chaperones.

Proteins have to become unfolded to cross the mitochondrial membranes. Hsp70 chaperone proteins hold the proteins in extended form for delivery to the mitochondria. But the proteins cross the mitodondrial membrane without any carrier protein and in unfolded state.
