Answer #1

In all of the cases objects are partially submerged so weight of object will be equal to buyont force and density of water is 1 g/cm3

A. Greatest to lowest

F - B - C - A - E - D

Now for the case F ......

VOLUME of water displaced is 60 cm3

Percentage of volume submerged will be 60/75 *100 which is 80percent

Percentage of volume above the surface 15/75 *100 which is 20 percent

Density of mass to water will be 60/75:1

Which is 4:5

    3. Archimedes' Principle states that the buoyant force on an object partially or fully submerged in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid that the object displaces. For an object of density po floating partly submerged in a fluid of density pf, the buoyant force is given by F P19 SA(y)dy, where g is the acceleration due to gravity and A(y) is the area of a typical cross-section of the object. The weight of the object is...

    2. 95% of a wood block is submerged in water (density= 1000 kg/m). A layer of oil with a density of 880 kg/m' is now poured on top, to a depth that more than covers the block, as shown. Find the resulting new volume fraction submerged in water, V(in water) / V(block). Hints: (i) You get two buoyant forces - one for each liquid; Also note that (ii) volume, V(block) = V(in water) + V(in oil). d=880 kg/m² V =...
