A. Because ESTs contain sequence that is not in the genome

B. To identify the location of the exons

C. To identify the location of the promoter

D. Because ESTs are different than what is in the human genome

Answer #1

Answer

Part A) ESTs are used to identify the location of exons in genome.

Part B) Introns would be missed if only ESTs sequenced in a genome.

Part C)

ESTs are expressed sequence tags which are present in mRNA encoding portion of genome i.e. Exons of genime.

So ESTs help us to locate the position of exons in the genome and does not give any information about the introns.
