Answer #1

Self enhancement is truly a dominant self- evaluation motive. Self enhancement reflects the extent of pursuing and maintaining positive views regarding oneself. On other hand self evaluation motive refers to ability linked with the actions without any external influence.

I have experienced closely an implication of "I am better than average" facet of the self enhancement. It elevated the confidence and made me feel better. When i was a college student, the assignment and test scores used to be more/ better than the average marks. When this occured several times, it raised my curiosity and made me to strive and achieve more.

The realisation that i am (we are) better today than what i was (we were) yesterday/ a few days before makes us assured that much beyond we may reach and touch the zenith. My public speaking was a mediocre one. I worked on it for several months and comprehended that i was doing well. The attributes related to public speaking were developing. This helped me in eventually becoming a good public speaker.

The above mentioned two examples resulted into appreciation and compliments. Thus, my self concept got modified socially. Therefore, Self enhancement is a dominant self- evaluation motive.
