There is a question includes different parts which related to photosythesis, is that true, "Leaves appear green because they absorb green wavelengths of light." ? The most abundant pigment in plant leaves that absorbs blue and red light is called...... What are the products of the light reactions? (Select all that apply.) 1)ATP 2)Glucose 3) Chlorophyll 4) Photons of light 5) NADPH Select the two main groups of chemical reactions in photosynthesis. 1)photorespiration 2)Krebs cycle 3)glycolysis 4)fermentation 5)light reactions 6)carbon reactions. what organisms conduct photosynthesis? Select all that apply. A) many types of bacteria - B) algae- C )fungi- D) terrestrial animals E)plants paying attention to the number of ATP used in the Calvin cycle, and then answer the following question. Suppose that, for every two photons of light striking photosystem II , one ATP molecule is produced at ATP synthase. The ATP then goes to the Calvin cycle and participates in PGAL synthesis; two PGALs combine to form one glucose molecule. Considering the assumptions above, how many photons of light must strike photosystem II to generate the ATP necessary to produce one glucose molecule in the Calvin cycle? How does the plant use the glucose it produces in the carbon reactions? Select all that apply. 1)The plant combines glucose molecules into glycogen. 2)The plant stores glucose molecules as polysaccharides. 3)The plant breaks down the glucose for energy. 4)The plant shuttles the glucose to the thylakoids, providing energy to fuel the light reactions. 5)The plant uses the glucose to produce structural polysaccharide

Answer #1

The most abundant pigment in plant leaves that absorbs blue and red light is called......

Answer: Chlorophyll.
It can absorb the maximum amount of blue light, and then red light. Also, since it can't absorb green light, it reflects it back and thus leaves appear green.

What are the products of the light reactions? (Select all that apply.) 1)ATP 2)Glucose 3) Chlorophyll 4) Photons of light 5) NADPH

Answer: Option 1/ 5.
The photons are the reactants of light reaction, that's why option 4 is wrong. Glucose is formed in dark reaction, hence its incorrect statement. Chlorophyll is again a raw material required for light reaction, that's why option 3 is also wrong. ATP and NADPH are said to be regenerated during light reactions, so that they could be used back in calvin cycle.

Select the two main groups of chemical reactions in photosynthesis.
1)photorespiration 2)Krebs cycle 3)glycolysis 4)fermentation 5)light reactions 6)carbon reactions.

Answer: Option 5 / 6.
Krebs cycle, glycolysis and fermentation are reactions of respiration, that's why option 2/3/4 are incorrect options. Photorespiration is again the respiration process in plants. There are two parts of photosynthesis, i.e. light and dark. Since dark part makes the carbon molecules, option 6 is correct option along with option 5.

what organisms conduct photosynthesis? Select all that apply.
A) many types of bacteria - B) algae- C )fungi- D) terrestrial animals E)plants

Answer: Option A/B/E
The only autotrophs on Earth are the plants, some bacteria and algae. Rest are heterotrophs, which include animals, insects, fungi and some bacterial species.
