The figure shows a circuit cantaining three switches, labeled S1, S2, and S3. Find the current at "a" for all possible combinations of switch settings. Put ? = 70 V, R1 = 25 ?, and R2 = 9 ?. Assume that the battery has no resistance.

Current at "a" for S2 and S3 closed and S1 open?

a)media%2Ffb4%2Ffb45d93c-9721-4812-8de4-2f

when s2 AND S3 ARE CLOSED,
Requivalent=R1+R2+R1(R1+R2)/(R1+R1+R2)
             =25+9+25*34/59
             = 48.41 ohm
Current=v/R=70/48.41=1.446A

B)
when s2 IS CLOSED,
Requivalent=R1+(R1+R2)
                      =25+(25+9)
                  =59ohm
Current=v/R=70/59=1.19 A
