Answer #1

ANS:5.OPTION a) is correct. The Fluid Thiogllycolate medium well adapted for the growth of the obligate anaerobes

Reason: Because Sodium Thoiglycolate in the medium consumes oxygen and allows the growth of obligate anaerobes.resazurine is the redox dye that determine the oxygen concentration at given level it is give pink colour in the presence of oxygen.Sodium Thiogllycate bind with oxygen in the broth and produce range of oxygen concentration in the media along its depth so,obligate anaerobes grow at the bottom of the test tube where oxygen concentration is very less.

ANS6:-OPTION b) is correct,Fluid Thioglycolate in the medium reacts with oxygen and produce the different range of oxygen concentration from top to bottom in the test tube .areotolerlants organisms no need of oxygen as they metabolise energy anaerobically and sodium thioglycolate used the oxygen and allow the growth of different microbes according to the oxygen concentration.

ANS7-:OPTION is a) correct, gas generator enevelop creats vacuum in the anaerobic jar for the anaerobic condition essential for the growth of bacteria.

ANS8;-OPTION A) Anaerobic jar is used to culture the anaerobic bacteria

REASON :Because anaerobic bacteria are unable to grow in the presence of oxygen.

ANS9:- OPTION a),TRUE motility is differ from the Brownian motion

REASON:-true motility is the ability of the organism in which they move freely in some distance.Brownian movement exhibit by the liquid or gases molecules,in which small ,invisible molecules vibrate the medium.

ANS10-OPTION b )is correct,Wet mount preparation of bacteria more difficult to see under the microscope than the gram positive bacteria because cell not stain with contrast with the slide ,stain provides color to the cell in this way their apperance recognise easily and in wet preparation slide cell easily move here and there ,some are stick here there and without staining not seen properly.

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
