Small population can have differnet behaviour than larger populaiton. There is more chance that small population can influenced by demographic and genetic events which is randomely determined and can have an impact on long term survival of the population. The causes of slow population growth at low population size in comparison to high population size are as follows-

1. Demographic effect.The influence of random rate of demographic effect ( reproductive and mortality) is much higher in small population compares to large ones.

2.Environment- Environement can directly have an effect on small population survival.

3. genetic effect-Loss of genetic variation in small population can also effect population growth/ survival.
