Here, at initially sea water supply pump and High pressure pump has to provide power to work this plant. Sea water supply pump, pumps water from sea and then provide it to High pressure pump which increase pressure of sea water to a level that is helpfull to pass through the number of membranes. These memberane allows only desaline water to pass through it and remain saline water flow through the down passage in the form of high potential energy source of saline water flow over the Pelton (Impulse Turbine) which converts potential or pressure energy of saline water into mechanical work or shaft work. Pelton turbine shaft rotates at high speed sufficient to run High pressure pump and hence this plant works continuosly with less than 3% of energy consumed by the high pressure pump. In this way Energy Recovery system works.
