Briefly outline how urine is formed and explain why desert mammals have much more efficient kidneys (can produce very concentrated urine) than non-desert mammals i.e length of the loop of Henle
Urine contains metabolic wastes. Whole blood from body continously filtered by kidneys in order to form urine. Nephrons present in kidney forms the urine from filterate. Blood is filtered in Glomerulus and then filterate is processed into nephron. PCT caises reabsorption of Ions and water also. Then filterate enter into loop and in loop decending limb causes reabsorption of water and impermeable to solutes. And then ascending limb which is also called diluting segment and only permeable to solutes. Then enters into DIstal convulated tubule and then in CCT after which filterate is called urine.
In desert animals urine is more concentrated because they have increased length of loop of henle in order to reabsorb more water from filterate and urine is concentrated.

Which of the following factors helps to explain why infants are at higher risk of dehydration than adults? a. Infants have no way of signaling to adults either hunger or thirst. b. Neither breast milk nor formula can adequately meet an infant's fluid needs. c. Infant kidneys produce more highly concentrated urine than adult kidneys. d. Infants lose proportionally more fluid via evaporation than adults.

People suffering with diabetes mellitus produce unusually large volumes of urine frequently. They also have much higher urine osmolarity than healthy individuals. Explain why increased urine volume and osmolarity are characteristics observed in diabetics. (include nephron loop function, especially descending limb)
Explain why, in a market with negative externality, too much output (more than the efficient amount) is produced and sold and positive externality, too little output (less than the efficient amount) is produced and sold. If you use a diagram in your answer, make that diagram large and label all axes, curves, and points.

Explain how verbal or nonverbal abuse can be much more emotionally damaging than physical abuse. Compare and contrast physical and non physical abuse .
pre-laboratory Questions A 1 Explain why it is more efficient to make several extractions using small portions rather than one extraction using the same total volume. 2 Define the following terms: Drying agent intensity Drying agent capacity 3 Select the upper layer in each pair of mixed solvents (see Appendix C): Water and benzene Water and carbon tetrachloride Water and ether 4 Write an equation for the reaction of a benzoic acid with aqueous sodium bicarbonate. 5 Complete the following...
a) Why can we have the packet header in virtual circuit switching to be much smaller than the typical header in datagram switching? b) Assume that we are using datagram switching (i.e. we are not using virtual circuits). Is it possible to guarantee bandwidth to each source-destination pair? Are there disadvantages of doing this using datagram switching? c) What is the big-O complexity of processing the header of a packet if we are using virtual circuits? Briefly explain why. d)...
can someone please explain how to do this with as much detail as possible. someone tried to explain it earlier in relation to (a,e) and (e,a) but im not sure even what that means Bccurance of Methyl shift o. The following two elimination reactions are found to have very different rates of reaction. The cis compound produces two products and it reacts much faster than the trans isomer, which produces only one product. Explain these observations (the erence in rate...
8. Consider how the heavy elements that make up planets like the earth are formed. Which of the following is most likely to be true about the origin of Earth? Earth arose around a very ancient star (our sun) that had had plenty of time to synthesize heavy elements. Earth arose in a region of our galaxy where few earlier stars formed so that the hydrogen fuel for our sun was abundant. Earth arose in a region that was very...
