pros and cons of situational leadership?
Answer – Situational leadership is the leadership style in which leader adapts him to the current situation and leads the team depending upon the current environment. Leader does not act on the basis of their skills rather they behave depending upon the present situations.
Pros of situational leadership are –
1. Leaders can use any kind of leadership style depending upon the situation.
2. There is no rigidity to act in particular style. Leaders can act flexibly and thus it is more comfortable.
3. Situational leadership is the simplest form of leadership.
4. It is beneficial for employees as well because leader will not act in their own way rather their actions will match the needs of employees.
5. In this style leaders can give personal attention to each employee by addressing their concerns.
6. It takes into account different developmental phases by evaluating competencies of each worker.
7. In increases the awareness of leader and helps them to grow by managing situations and acting differently in all the situations.
8. In helps in increasing the productivity of workers by giving them comfortable environment to work.
9. It helps in quick problem solving rather than delaying to make a big issue.
10. It helps in providing trainings to worker depending upon their individual needs.
11. It reduces the internal conflicts among the workers.
12. It gives equal chance to every employee whether fresher or experienced to grow and develop.
13. It welcomes the idea of every employee that results in good innovative ideas.
14. It provides the success to overall organisation by managing and leading the team well.

Cons of situational leadership are –
1. Situational leadership focuses and serves short term needs more . Long terms needs are not considered.
2. In this leadership style mostly the overall objective gets lost as focus is more on improving the employees.
3. It is not suitable for task-orientated environments.
4. This leadership style becomes ineffective where rigidity is required to perform certain operations.
5. It could be complex to adapt style depending upon the maturity of the employees as each employee has different kinds of maturity level.
6. It is not easy to understand the different perspectives when the numbers of employees are large.
7. Leaders are sometimes not able to get enough information to act as per the situation instantly.
8. Leaders cannot work as per their inherited skills. They have to use their skills on the basis of situations which can be misread also.
9. It can provide more harm than good if leaders would not be able to respond to the situation accurately and effectively.
10. Frequently changing leadership styles can create confusion in the working environment where employees may not be able to understand the mind set of their leader.
11. It is not suitable to heavily regimented managers.
12. It becomes difficult for the leaders to align individuals’ goals with the company’s goals.
