The magnetic field detected around the charger is almost zero because there is actually two currents going in opposite directions which are almost of equal magnitude and thus they produce magnetic fields in opposite directions but having almost equal magnitude. Therefore, these two equal magnetic fields superimpose to give a net magnetic field of ZERO around the wires.
