Answer #1

Answere : None of any option best describes "mismatch repair mechanism. These all statements are related to other repair mechanism such as base and nucleotide excision repair, photoreactivation, double stranded break repair etc.

Direct repair and excision repair function by looking for bases not normally found in DNA (e.g. bases chemically modified). Mismatch repair enzymes recognize normal bases that are incorrectly base paired.

Features of mismatch repair mechanism are :
1. As soon as replication fork passes a sequence, mismatch repair enzymes scan newly synthesized DNA strands and replace incorrect bases with correct ones

2. Critical feature is these enzymes use the original parental strand as template for repair DNA synthesis

3. Proteins involved in Mismatch repair mechanism are : mutS, mutH, mutL, exonuclease I, DNA polymerase III.

Mismatch repair is important for recognizing, removing, and repairing the DNA strand.

Which of the following best describes the mechanism of action of bleomycin? (select all that apply) It intercalates in DNA via the thiazole rings, binds iron ions that cause the production of peroxide radicals that break DNA strands It forms a complex with iron that causes the production of iron oxides, which inactivate phosphorylated protein kinases It covalently attaches to topoisomerases, inhibiting their activity It binds NADPH and reduces some intermediates in the biosynthesis of nucleic acids

Which statement best describes restriction enzymes? View Available Hint(s) Which statement best describes restriction enzymes? They randomly cut DNA molecules to generate numerous fragments. They are necessary for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to occur. They are important for cloning applications because they can be used to cut DNA at specific nucleotide sequences. They can cut only circular plasmid DNA.
