Answer #1

The atmosphere around a planet is a crucial factor that makes it habitable. It can trap heat, shield the
surface from harmful radiation, and provides chemicals needed for life, like N2 and CO2. Small planets and moons have insufficient gravity to hold an atmosphere. The gas molecules escape to space, leaving the planet or moon without an insulating blanket or a protective shield. Planets like Earth & Venus hold a sufficient-sized atmosphere. Earth’s atmosphere is about 100 miles thick. It keeps the surface warm & protects it from radiation & small- to medium-sized meteorites. Thus the attribute of an atmosphere around a planet or a moon that might suggest the presence of a living process on that body is the thickness of its atmosphere.

So the correct option is:  e) thick gasses
