Limnetic zone

Explanation: Limnetic zone also called as photic zone receives maximum amount of sunlight that helps in carrying out photosynthesis.

Pelagic zone is the open part of the lake, littoral zone is near the shore and may or may not contain plant life . Profundal zone is below the range of active light penetration and benthic zone comprises the bottom of lake.

So, to stop photosynthesis using a chemical it is best suited to apply in limentic zone as it is where maximum photosynthesis takes place.
