Here we have observed that certain types of chemicals are responsible for changing the hormone regulation in several aquatic organisms and lead to the development of some abnormal characteristics such as the Feminization of males.

Then a study was performed to check the effect of tap water as well as the different concentrations of sewage treated effluent having different types of chemicals on the juvenile fish.

Then we have to decide the control group, Treatment or experimental groups, dependent variable as well as independent variables.

Control groups - The juvenile fish which are exposed to tap water, i.e. without any chemicals or sewage treated effluent.

Treatment or experimental groups - contains the juvenile fish which are exposed to different concentration of sewage treated effluent having different types of chemicals.

dependent variable - here the dependent variable is the number of percentage of fish which are showing the female like characteristics such as reproductive ducts, due to exposure of different concentration of sewage treated effluent having different types of chemicals. this value is generally placed on the Y- axis, because as we change the value on X-axis the change in the value of the Y-axis is observed.

independent variables -here the independent variables are the concentration of sewage treated effluent, placed on the X-axis of the graph because it does not depend upon the percentage or number of juvenile fish showing female characteristics.

Here as we change the concentration of sewage treated effluent having chemicals (X-axis), then there is a change in the number or percentage of juvenile fish was observed having female reproductive ducts(Y-axis).
