For this discussion, consider what the text says in the chapter about personality. There are many theories of how personality emerges (Freud, Jung, Horney, Bandura, etc.) that are mentioned in the chapter. One fascinating debate within the field is over whether personality changes more than it stays the same as people age. So, consider yourself for a moment. Overall, do you believe you have changed more than you have stayed the same? Or, have you changed more than you have stayed the same? Draw from the text and personal experience in your response.

People are the products of their environment and this would mean that they would be influenced greatly by their environment such as, parenting, family, friends, education, culture and religion. This would mean that people’s attitudes, personality, values and worldview are the result of the people around them. Although one’s genetic make-up and parenting would influence one, people would adopt and change themselves in order to be accepted by others and work well with others. I have changed my inhibitions, communication style, emotional management and viewing things from others point of view etc. through my interaction with others both in the school and in the society. I have learnt most of my attitudes and behaviours through my interaction with others.
