Answer #1
Protozoa Helminths

1. Unicellular eukaryotes.

2. Protozoa have been ranked as a kingdom.

3. Clasiffication( According to special characteristics):

  • Flagellates, or Mastigophora (motile cells equipped with whiplike organelles called flagella for locomotion, e.g., Euglina viridis)
  • Amoebae or Sarcodina (cells that move by extending pseudopodia e.g., Amoeba proteus)
  • Sporozoans, or Sporozoa (parasitic, spore-producing cells, whose adult form lacks organs of motility, e.g., Plasmodium vivax)
    • Apicomplexa (now in Alveolata)
    • Ascetosporea (now in Rhizaria)
    • Myxosporidia (now in Cnidaria)
    • Microsporidia (now in Fungi)
  • Ciliates, or Ciliophora (cells equipped with large numbers of short hairlike organs called cilia for locomotion, e.g. ‎Paramecium caudatum)

4. Respiration and excretion through body surface.

1. Multicellular eukaryotes.

2. Helminths are the group which includes some phyla.

3. Classification (According to body structure):

  • Nemathelminthes (nematodes)- Round worms (Shape: Cylindrical) e.g., Ascaris
  • Platyhelminthes- flatworms
    • 2 classes (Depeded on body segmentation)
      • Cestodes (tapeworms)-Shape: Segmented plane e.g., Taenia solium
      • Trematodes (flukes and blood flukes)- Shape: Unsegmented plane e.g., Fasciola hepatica

4. Respiration through general body surfaces. No specialized blood vascular system or excretory organ.

Platyhelminthes: The body is bilaterally symmetrical. Triploblastic i.e there are three layers of cells from which differentiated tissues are made. No true internal body cavity or coelom. The body is flattened dorsiventrally, meaning from top to bottom, this is why these animals are called flatworms. Either free- living or parasitic.

NEMATODA:
The body is also bilaterally symmetrical and triploblastic. The
body is cylindrical. A pseudo- coelom, is present so, there are tissues, but no real organs, although a sort of body cavity. These parasitic worms causing diseases, such as the worms causing elephantiasis (filarial worms) or the worms in the intestines (roundworm or pinworms)
