Answer #1

1. In your own words, describe what sets electromechanical instruments apart from other electrophones.

Electromechanical instruments produce sound using electromechanical as well as electronic means. Electromechanical instruments have mechanical elements, such as strings, hammers and electric elements, such as magnetic pickups, power amplifiers and loudspeakers.

On the other hand, an electrophone is a class of musical instruments in which the initial sound either is produced by electronic means or is conventionally produced (as by a vibrating string) and electronically amplified. Electronically amplified conventional instruments include guitars, pianos, and others.

2. In your own words, describe the ways in which electroacoustic instruments gained their own identity apart from their acoustic ancestors.

Electroacoustic instruments gained their own identity in terms of their evolution from basic forms to now sophisticated forms. The technology helped it to be popular among youngsters. From the beginning of 20th century they started to appear on stage as well as orchestral performances. They started from countries of Europe and spread throughout the world due to their different sound quality and craze among new generation.
