Ozonation is a process of treatment of water .

Advantages of ozonation -

1) Ozone has good effectiveness in oxidising ( killing) Bacteria and viruses as compared to the other disinfection methods like chlorination .

2) Ozone is effective over the wide range of pH , it oxidises the pathogens in very short time due to its strong oxidation property .

3) The treatment process does not effect the colour , taste and odour of the water .and even elimiates any odour .

4) It is easy to use .

Disadvantages of Ozonation -  

1) The process of Ozonation is costly due to high operational and equipment cost .

2) The Ozonation treatment dont add up any residue in the treated water to prevent the regrowth of microorganisms .

3) It requires skilled labour to operate .

4) This treatment is not much effective in the turbid water and also require reduction of hardness before Ozonation .

5) Fire hazard risk always occurs due to its combustion property.
