Answer #1

From the following which is true about cellular respiration (select all that apply).

The following two statements are true.

  • In prokaryotes, the electrons transport is in the plasma membrane - eukaryotes don't have special organelles like mitochondria for electron transport chain so ETC occurs in the plasma membrane.
  • Substrate-level phosphorylation is catalyzed by kinase and transfers the phosphate group from an intermediate in a metabolic pathway directly to a molecule of ADP - yes substrate-level phosphorylation is the production of ATP from ADP by direct transfer of high energy phosphate group from the phosphorylated intermediate.

The followings statements are false.

  • Prokaryotic fermentation net yield is 4 ATP and oxidative respiration has 32 ATP - prokaryotic fermentation net Yield is 2 ATP and 32 ATP.
  • The major regulatory enzyme of glycolysis is Hexokinase - it's not only one regulatory enzyme. with his phosphofructokinase and pyruvate kinase also regulatory enzymes. but phosphofructokinase is a prominent enzyme.

B) Which statement is false about phosphate esters is 4. they're not found in molecules that have a sugar moiety

The followings are true statements.

  1. can serve as intermediates in metabolic pathways that produce ATP
  2. may be formed by the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP - they formed in physiological condition using ATP as phosphate donor and enzyme.
  3. can result from the reaction of a hydroxyl group with an acid - it's true.

The false statement is 4. they're not found in molecules that have a sugar moiety because they found in sugar moiesty where they bond between sugar base of one nucleotide and phosphate group of other nucleotides.
