Answer #1

Torsemide is a diuretic medication used to treat fluid overload due to heart failure, kidney disease, and liver disease and high blood pressure.

D = desired dose

V = volume of medicine in hand

H = dose on hand

A = amount to be administered

Formula for calculating the dose

Amount to be administered (A) = desired dose (D)* volume (V)

   dose on hand (H)

The given value are,

Desired dose of torsemide = 40 mg

Volume = 1 tablet

Dose on hand = 20 mg

Therefore,

A = D * V / H

   = 40 * 1 / 20

   = 2

Therefore, the correct amount of medicine to be given is 2 tablets of torsemide every morning.
