Social media is a tool or weapon which when appropriately used, reaps several benefits for the company. Firstly, it helps reach out to customers far and located at distant locations. Thus, dissolving the distance parameter. Marketers use this medium to promote their products and services across all customers.

Secondly, this medium has facilitated marketers to not only reach distant located customers, but reach out to larger number of potential customers within a very short span of time, while minimizing the costs of promotions to minimum.

Further, social media has become a platform to gather customer feedback and understand the customers better so as to improve self processes, products or services.

Social media also plays an active role in developing bond with customers and enabling them to make instant purchases through online shopping portals.

Ultimately, social media helps the company gather data regarding customer preferences, and improvements which after analysis help the company improve itself and develop stronger relationships with customers.
