Answer #1

1. New alleles are added to the population as needed.
Alleles help organisms survive and reproduce better than their peers, natural selection helps in increasing the frequency of alleles from one generation to another if needed.

2. Mates more frequently than others in the population.
In the process of evolution, the fitness is considered as how well the organisms survive and reproduce. Fitness of an individual depends on how more often it passes its genes by mating more frequently than others.

3. Analogies
Analogy means the comparision of two things in significant respects. salamanders and humans are from two different species yet they can be comapared in some significant aspects.

Which of the following statements does not play a direct role in natural selection? Read all choices before answering the question. a) Artificial selection. b) Individuals within the population, who have the greatest reproductive fitness, are those who produce the greatest number of offspring, who survive to reproduce the subsequent F2 ("grandkids") generation. c) A species will produce more offspring than environmental resources can support. Question 8 1 pts Which of the following is NOT true about sexual selection? Sexual selection operates only on males because they are the ones that compete and females are the "choosy" ones Wb Which types of sexual signals evolve in a given lineage may depend on pre-existing sensory biases (eg. whether individuals can see in color, or what sounds they like) Sexual signals are often "expensive" (in energy, or risks to safety), which means that usually only healthy individuals...

Question 10 2 pts Why does coevolution not occur in commensalism relationships? O a. Natural selection has little or no effect because selection pressure is only occurring in one direction (1.e. only one of the two species in the relationship is exerting selection pressure). O b. Both species in the relationship are harmed causing at least one species to go extinct, therefore natural selection is not able to occur. O c. Abiotic factors prevent the occurrence of coevolution in commensalism...
