Answer #1

In these two questions Project1, Project2, Project3, Project4 are denoted by X1, X2, X3, X4 respectively. If a Project is selected/invested in then corrosponding X is 1. and if not selected/invested then corrosponding X is 0.

Question1 Ans (a)

Explanation- given that that compony will need to invest in project1 to invest in project2. which implies project2 will be invested if and only if project1 is invested. so, X1 must be 1 for Project 2 to be invested in. so X1 - X2 is greather than or equal to 0.

Question2 Ans (a)

Explanation- company less than two projects out of 4 projects. which implies that atmost two of X1,X2,X3,X4 can be 1. Hence X11+X2+X3+X4 is less than or equal to 2.

Let xi (j) denote the optimal amount to invest in project 1 when we have maxlfi(l), f2(1), f3(1))-max(5, 1632 6.32, a total of j to invest. Because we see that Xi(1)=0, X2(I) = 0, x3(1)=1. Since max(f(xdl) + I)-f(xdl)) = max(5, I, 8.65-6.32) = 5. we have X1(2)...
