How Classification works in Data Mining:
It is a data mining function. It works by assigning items in a collection to target classes or categories. It attempts to accurately predict the target class for each case in the data. It is a data analysis task. It carries out the process to find a model describing and distinguishing data classes and concepts. It uses classification models for predicting categorical class labels.

Data classification includes the below two steps:
* Building the Classifier or Model:
It is the learning phase. The classification algorithms build the classifier. The classifier is built from the training set that comprises of database tuples and their associated class labels. Each tuple constituting the training set is called a category, class, sample, object, or data points.

* Using Classifier for Classification: In this phase, the classifier is used for classification. The test data is used for estimating the accuracy of classification rules. The classification rules are applied to the new data tuples, in case it is found the accuracy is acceptable.
