1. Briefly explain how ‘emulsion polymerization’ works
2. What is ATRP, and how does it make radical polymerizations more “living”?
Solution 1
Emulsion polymerisation- It is a radical polymerisation which involves an emulsion incorporating monomer, surfactant and water.
example- Oil in water emulsion is a common example of emulsion polymerisation. In this oil droplets which are monomers are emulsified with surfactant in continuous phase of water.
How it works -
The process involves application of emulsifier to emulsify hydrophobic polymers through aqueous phase by emphiphatic emulsifier. After that production of free radicals with oil soluble or water soluble initiators. It involves reduction of biomolecular termination of free radicals because of segregation of free radicals among monomer swollen polymer particles.

(a) How does the rate of the first stage of emulsion polymerization in the creation of polymer particles be affected if you change from a stryene monkmer to a methyl methacrylate monomer? (b) If you would like a final product with a larger number of particles, which stage of emlusion polymeeization meeds to be enchanced? (c) what about if yiu want the final product to with larger particles?

1. Explain briefly what the consumer price index is trying to measure and how it is constructed. 2. Henry Ford paid his workers $5 a day in 1914. If the U.S. consumer price index was 10 in 1914 and 195 in 2005, how much is the Ford daily paycheque worth in 2005 dollars? 3. Describe the three problems that make the consumer price index an imperfect measure of the cost of living. 4. If the price of a military aircraft...
