SOLUTION :


p = adults with smartphones = 48% = 0.48


q = adults without smartphones = 1 -  0.48 = 0.52


As per binomial distribution : For n = 14 :


P(x < 3) 


= P(0) + P(1) + P(2)

= ncr(14, 0)*(0.48)^0 *(0.52)^14 +ncr(14, 1)*(0.48)*(0.52)^13

+ncr(14, 2)*(0.48)^2 * (0.52)^12


= 0.0097 (ANSWER).
