Answer #1

TSI slant test is the test for distinguishing bacteria depending on the fermentation type of sugars .

TSI SLANT contains phenol red which can chnages into yellow when the pH of the solution reduces because of deposition of acids like lactic acids .

Here, after 18 hours, lactose present in upper slant can be converted into other products by aerobic conditions.

But when, these fermentation start , lactose is produced and the pH reduced and the phenol red become yellow but after 18 hours oxygen supplies become sufficient and the lactose become converted into pyruvate or other products or lactose is not produced, that why the upper slant become red as the original colour of phenol red..

So, this TSI CONTAIN ONLY GLUCOSE FERMENTER .

IF THE BACTERIA WOULD LACTOSE FERMENTAR THEN, BOTTOM LATER ALSO BECOME YELLOW BECAUSE LACTOSE IS PRODUCED and it converts red colour into yellow.

So, the answer is only glucose fermenter present.

Thank you

Background Background continued... Questions Experiment 2: TSI The triple sugar iron agar (TSI) can identify gram negative bacteria based on how they metabolize carbohydrates. It contains three carbohydrates-glucose, lactose and sucrose, in addition to sodium thiosulfate which some bacteria use in the production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). It also contains iron in the ferrous form and phenol red as a pH indicator. TSI is poured into a tube when heated to a liquid form, and the tube is slanted as...

You have an unknown bacterium. You decide to plate it on an MSA blate. After 24 hours the plate turns from red to yellow. This means Your bacteria can ferment glucose to lactose The bacteria could be gram negative since it grew on MSA plates You do not need to test coagulase since it is not likely to be Gram positive O Your bacteria can ferment mannitol Your bacteria can ferment galactose

can somrone help me write an introduction for each agar. thank you ? Introduction: Selective and differential media are used frequently in Microbiology Pathology Labs to identify a known group of bacteria from a complex mix of other bacteria. The medium is designed to select against as many of the background organisms as possible by using a medium in which they will not grow but the organisms under investigation can grow hence the "Selective" part of the name. In the lab info it says that as a rule, most microbes can adjust to a range of salt concentrations. 7/29/2019 Which cell structure allows microbes to physically withstand hypotonic environments? Cell wall MSA has two properties. It is both selective and differential. When bacteria grow on this media, there is a visible difference between bacteria that ferment mannitol, and the bacteria that do not See Figure 2 (a)-effects of selective/differential media. Q15.
