Should people have the choice to end their own lives? Give three arguments for assisted dying; give three arguments against assisted suicide.
One of the most important reasons for the support of euthanasia is that it’s a basic human dignity. This would mean that just as human beings deserve a dignified living, they also have their right to die in a dignified way. Instead of keeping people in pain and suffering without any hope for survival, it would be wise to end their lives. Secondly, it is to respect the autonomy of the patients who wish to end their lives. This would mean people should be allowed to make decisions about their life and death without any compulsion. Thirdly, it is important to look at it from the point of those who assist the patients in terms of healthcare workers, doctors and family members who spend money, energy, resources and time without any hope for survival.
One of the most important arguments against physician assisted suicide is that the responsibility of the doctor is to save lives and a doctor cannot kill lives as it is against the profession. Secondly, no one can take a life except god thus, the patient, doctor or even the family members because only god could take lives. Finally, no one knows when someone would recover and in order to prevent the sanctity of life because miracles may happen at any time and people shouldn’t regret it.
