Answer #1

a) How does this survey appear to be flawed?

Answer: The survey appears to be flawed because the population under study is US adults as a whole while the sample population of survey only includes the college population. Therefore, the sample is not representative of the population of interest. For example, the sample is likely to have a overrepresentation of the age group 18-25 compared to others.

b)

Answer: To design the survey in a non flawed way, the sample should be randomly selected from the complete US population while including people from different states, class, age etc. To ensure that, people from different neigborhoods can be randomly selected and contacted through telephonic or personal surveys.
