Tony's score = $\small x_1$ = 82%

Average = $\small \mu_1$ = 75%

Standard deviation = $\small \sigma_1$ = 7.5

$\small z-score=z_1=\frac{x_1-\mu_1}{\sigma_1}=\frac{82-75}{7.5}=0.93$

For Steve's Class :

Steve's score = $\small x_2$ = 92%

Average = $\small \mu_2$ = 89%

Standard devioation = $\small \sigma_2$ = 3.6

$\small z-score=z_2=\frac{x_2-\mu_2}{\sigma_2}=\frac{92-89}{3.6}=0.83$

We can see that the z score of Tony is greater than z score of Steve. So, performance of Tony is better than that of Steve.
